Unique Jewelry and Gifts to Help Celebrate
The Precious Gift of Recovery

Hello and welcome to our site!
Thank you for your interest!

TST Company is dedicated to bringing quality, unique jewelry and other products to those who love beautiful things. TST Company was started by Tim W. in Phoenix, Arizona in 1995. This year (2009), we will be moving our production shop from Arizona to Hill City, in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Our location here in the Black Hills is ideal for stimulating creativity. We are surrounded by beautiful mountains lakes and streams and are in the middle of a thick forest filled with wild animals including deer, buffalo, turkeys, squirrels, elk and more. It's as close to instant serenity as you can get!

We proudly produce all the merchandise we sell, right here in our production studio which means we must cover a broad spectrum of jewelry making processes which include: lost wax casting, original wax carving, various hand fabrication techniques, gem cutting and polishing to name just a few processes.

The photos below illustrate some of the processes used to create the jewelry and gift products along with some views of the area around our studio.

Lost wax casting process

Lost wax casting has been used for thousands of years to create objects of art in precious metal. The item is first made in wax, then the wax is covered with a material in which the metal will be cast. The wax is then burned away, leaving a mold in which the metal is cast. The molten metal is forced into the cavity either through centrifugal force, or by use of a vacuum casting machine.

Stone cutting and polishing Stone cutting and polishing is a process involving different tools which have diamond particles imbedded in them enabling the cutting away of softer materials. First the stone is "slabbed" on a saw with a diamond edge blade. Then these slabs are attached to dop sticks which allow for a "handle" while working the stone. The slab is then shaped and sanded down using finer and finer grit until it reaches the desired size and shape. A final polish is then put on the stone and the stone is removed from the dop stick ready to be mounted into jewelry.

Hand fabrication jewelry making techniques include; sawing, filing, sanding, bending, forming, dapping, hammering, texturing, soldering, pre-polishing, polishing... and the list goes on! These techniques are done a piece at a time, by hand. During the course of all these steps, each jewelry piece is handled many times. Each stage of the process is a time for scrutinizing the piece, looking for and correcting any defects or unfinished areas. This intense attention to detail during our production process is one of the main reasons our quality jewelry stands far apart from mass produced, machine finished jewelry.

We know how to make the jewelry, but the creative inspiration Is provided by the setting here in the beautiful Black Hills! The furry visitors shown below keep us company!
